I was out in Oxnard near Seabridge Marketplace, making a spare for a 2005 Acura MDX. First-generation truck. Clean for its age. Owner had one worn key left and a separate remote that only worked if you held it against the driver's window.
This year runs an edge-cut HD106 blade with a Megamos 13 chip inside. No push button, no proximity. Old school ignition cylinder with a green key light on the dash that tells you exactly what's happening.
I decoded the door, cut a fresh BHD106-PT, and programmed it through the OBD port into the immobilizer control unit. Type 3 system. Fixed code. Add-key procedure.
Her remote was the OEM unit, FCC ID E4EG8D-444H-A, part number 72147-S3V-A02, running on 308 MHz with a CR2025. I cracked it open, swapped the battery, re-synced it. Had to make sure all transmitters were learned in the same session since this system wipes previously stored remotes when you enter programming mode.
She watched the whole thing from the curb. Key in. Green light holds steady for two seconds, then off. Clean start. She turned it off and did it again, just to be sure.
The dealer route would have meant separate line items for the cut, the programming, and probably a half-day wait. This was one visit in the parking lot.
