The call came from Butterfly Beach. A 2022 MDX wouldn't acknowledge any of the owner's keys, and she needed to get to Santa Barbara by noon.
Fourth generation MDX. Push to start. The dash kept flashing "No Key Detected" even with the fob right on the start button. She'd already tried new batteries in both remotes.
Her KR5V2TX fobs looked fine externally. Five buttons, CR2032 seated correctly. But when I scanned the immobilizer, it threw DTC B15C3-11. That's the telltale for corrupted key data in the Body Control Module. Some 2022s shipped with a BCM glitch that eventually scrambles the stored key codes.
I couldn't just add her existing fobs back. The BCM needed a full key relearn sequence. Connected through the OBD port, initiated the security erase, waited out the mandatory countdown, then registered both smart keys fresh. The 72147-TYA-C01 for driver one, matching her usual memory position.
Ten minutes into programming, the dash went quiet. No more error. The start button lit solid white instead of blinking orange. I tested every door handle sensor, the liftgate button, and made sure her memory seats recalled properly.
She made her Santa Barbara appointment. The dealer had quoted overnight for BCM diagnosis and programming.
