2023 Acura MDX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got called out to Montecito Country Club for a 2023 MDX that wouldn't recognize the key. Owner said it started with intermittent "No Key Detected" messages, then went completely dead.
He was doing the walk of shame with the emergency blade every time. Remote buttons worked fine, which told me the RF side was alive but the immobilizer chip wasn't talking.
Popped the fob open on his hood. KR5V41, Continental board marked A2C-118685501. The HITAG-AES 4A chip looked good, but there was slight corrosion near the antenna coil from what looked like old moisture. These fobs aren't waterproof.
I had the matching 72147-TYA-A11 in stock. Connected through the OBD with my Autel and went straight into the Acura immobilizer menu. The 2023 MDX requires the 16-digit immobilizer code for all-keys-lost scenarios, but adding a key just needs the security password.
Registered the new fob in about twelve minutes. Walk-up unlock worked immediately. Start button recognized it. Even the memory seat kicked in for Driver 1.
The old water-damaged key got erased from the system. He kept it for the emergency blade but it won't start the car anymore. Whole thing done in his driveway while his neighbor watched from across the street.
