Also wipe down the handle area. Dirt, moisture, or salt residue -- especially relevant near the coast in Mandalay Beach -- can interfere with the capacitive touch surface. If all handles quit at once and the dash is showing a keyless access warning, that is a different conversation and worth a proper diagnostic.

My 2017 MDX starts fine but the fob range feels short. Everything works, just barely. What is going on?

Start with the CR2032 in the fob. A cell that tests "okay" on a cheap checker can still be too weak for consistent long-range communication. Swap it with a fresh name-brand CR2032 and retest.

If range is still short after a new battery, check the 12-volt vehicle battery. Low voltage in the car affects the antenna system and can shrink the detection zone noticeably. It is a less obvious cause but it comes up more than people expect on this platform.

If both batteries are healthy and range is still weak, the fob board or one of the door antennas is worth a closer look.
