Friday night at the Rose Shopping Center in Oxnard. A couple standing next to their 2008 Acura MDX, hood up, hazards blinking.

Their flip key was the 4-button N5F0602A1A, part number 35111-STX-329, stamped Driver 2 on the back. CR1616 inside. The remote signal was weak and the shell hinge had play in it, the kind of wobble Acura addressed in service bulletin 10-008 for retractable master keys not locking in the extended position on 2007 through 2012 MDX models.
I tested system voltage, confirmed the immobilizer receiver was responding, and scanned for DTCs. No hard faults. Just low battery history codes.
Fresh battery in the vehicle. Fresh CR1616 in the key. Cleared codes. The green key light went out the way it should. Engine stayed running.
They drove home that night. No tow truck. No waiting until Monday morning at the dealer.
