2012 Chevrolet Sonic Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy in Village at the Park, Camarillo picked up a used 2012 Sonic from a small private lot. The lot handed him one key and told him to sort out a spare on his own. He figured he would swing by a hardware store and spend maybe forty or fifty dollars. He had no idea the flip fob design meant this was a different situation entirely.
He called the dealer first. They quoted him a number that made him stop and double-check that he had heard right. He called me and asked if that price was accurate. I told him it was in the right ballpark for a dealer, and then I told him what I could do instead.
I met him in the parking area near his building. He had the original fob in hand and the car was right there, which is exactly how I like it. I cut a new blade on site, handled the programming with my equipment through the OBD port, and synced the remote functions. The whole job took about 25 minutes. He stood there and watched, which I actually prefer. People who watch tend to understand what they are paying for.
He ended up with two fully working flip keys, both cutting the engine on command, both working the locks. The dealer comparison came up again at the end. I just told him to call me if he ever needs the next one.
