I pulled into the Pep Boys lot off Thousand Oaks Boulevard and found him standing next to his 2020 Sonic looking like a man who'd already had a long week. He had, technically. He'd called one of those bargain-rate locksmith ads that showed up at the top of Google, paid more than he expected, and still ended up with a fob that worked maybe half the time.
