2014 Chevrolet Sonic Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A woman on a work trip to Camarillo called me from a hotel lot near Constitution Park. Her 2014 Chevrolet Sonic wouldn't respond to anything. Remote unlock, nothing. Push-button start, nothing. She pressed the fob against the start button the way GM says to do when the battery dies, and still nothing. The fob was just done.
She had already called the dealer. They told her to get it towed in and they could look at it the next afternoon. She had meetings in the morning.
I got there that evening. Her key was the 5-button remote flip key, OHT01060512, the one with lock, unlock, trunk, remote start, and panic. I pulled the VIN from the door jamb, confirmed the key specs, and got to work in the van. Cut the emergency blade on site using the key code pulled from the VIN. Then I connected to the OBD-II port, accessed the body control module, and programmed a new Hitag2 transponder plus all five remote functions. The BCM security relearn on these takes a few minutes because GM's passlock procedure has a timed cycle built in.
Whole thing, about 25 minutes from parking my van to handing her a tested, working key. She stood there watching the doors lock and unlock like she was waiting for it to quit again. It didn't.
She kept her schedule the next morning. No tow, no waiting room, no lost day.
