Got a call from a woman near Bolker Park in Port Hueneme. Her 1999 Crown Victoria wouldn't start and she was dead sure it needed a tow to the Ford dealer. A friend told her that, the dealer's service line told her that, and some forum post from years back told her that. Three for three, all wrong.

The ten-minute security timer ran its cycle while she sat in the shade scrolling her phone. After the wait, second key accepted, both keys tested. Clean starts, no theft light blinking.
She held both keys side by side and just kind of nodded, like she was checking that real things had actually happened. The whole job took about twenty minutes including that built-in Ford security delay.
She had been quoted an appointment slot three weeks out at the dealer. Instead, her car never left the parking spot.
