2022 Ford Escape
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2022 Ford Escape Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Faria Beach, I got a call from an older gentleman who used a walker. His 2022 Escape was his independence, and his only fob had been acting up for weeks.

Range had gotten sketchy, the door handles weren't always waking up when he reached for them, and he wanted a spare made before the whole thing went dark on him. His son was out of state. Getting to a dealer wasn't a minor errand for him - it was a half-day production that required asking for help.

He called on a Tuesday morning. I was there before noon.

The existing fob checked out fine once I looked inside - the CR2450 was original and had dropped enough voltage to cause exactly the kind of intermittent behavior he'd been dealing with. I swapped the cell, reseated the contact clip, and tested every function before I even started cutting the spare. Door handles, lock, unlock, the whole sequence.

Then I cut his second key, paired both fobs through the OBD port, and walked him through checking the battery himself so he'd know what to look for before it got that bad again. He stood in his driveway the whole time. No transport, no waiting room, no calling his son.

The dealer had quoted him what it would cost for a single key, with no same-day availability. He got two working fobs before lunch for a fraction of that.
