I got a call from a guy parked outside his office building off Telegraph Road in East Ventura on a Tuesday morning. He had a meeting in 40 minutes and his 2023 Escape was showing a key warning on the dash. He'd swapped the fob battery himself the night before, thought it went fine, and now the car wouldn't recognize the fob at all.

That would have been the whole job, except he mentioned the fob had been acting weak for a few weeks before he swapped the battery. So I checked all five buttons, walked the door handles, and ran through the full function check while he finished his call. Everything came back clean.
He made his meeting. The car never moved. No tow, no waiting room, no scheduling an appointment and hoping the part was in stock. He told me the dealer's service line had quoted him a wait of several days just to get seen. I was in and out of that lot in under 30 minutes.
