Out near Oxnard State Beach Park in July, a woman called me from a hospital parking lot. Her groceries were in the back seat of her 2013 Ford Fusion. The frozen stuff had maybe 30 minutes before it turned into a mess.

I got there and used a Lishi HU101 to pick the door without marking anything. Plugged my Autel IM608 into the OBD-II port and pulled PATS data. Her fob, the M3N-A2C31243300 with part number 164-R7989, had two dead CR2025 cells and some light corrosion on the internal battery contacts. The board inside these 5-button fobs is small and the contact points oxidize if a battery leaks even a little.
Cleaned the contacts, seated two fresh CR2025s, and re-tested proximity detection at every door handle, the trunk button, and push-button start. Then I walked the perimeter to check range. Everything came back.
From her phone call to her engine running was under 50 minutes. Groceries survived. Sometimes the whole difference between a locksmith and the dealer is just timing.
