2014 Ford Fusion
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know you are not a scam locksmith?

Scam locksmiths are a genuine problem, and Ford owners get targeted because key work sounds technical and urgent. The pattern is always the same: a low quote on the phone, no marked vehicle, no written price before the work starts, and then a number that doubles at the end. EZ Car Keyz has over 100,000 followers across YouTube and TikTok where you can watch us do exactly this type of work. We give you a firm price on the phone.

Q: Will the replacement key work exactly like my original?

It should, and we verify it does before we leave. A common complaint from owners who bought a fob online is that the replacement handles door lock and unlock fine but the vehicle will not start. That usually comes down to the fob not being properly paired to the vehicle security system, or a key that was not sourced correctly for this specific model year.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online. Can you just program it for me?

Sometimes, but it depends on what you bought. The 2014 Fusion Smart Key uses a specific fob matched to this platform, and the aftermarket space has a lot of look-alike units that are not compatible. If the part number on what you bought matches the factory fob for this vehicle, bring it and we can try. If it does not pair correctly after attempting registration, that is on the fob, not the programming.

Q: My 2014 Fusion door handle touch unlock stopped working on one side. Is the fob the problem?

Probably not. If the start button still sees the fob and the other door handle still responds, the key itself is likely fine. Touch unlock on these works through sensors built into the door handle, and a single-door failure almost always points to that handle's sensor or the wiring at that door rather than anything wrong with the fob. Wipe the handle area clean and retest. If it stays isolated to one door, that is where to look.

2014 Ford Fusion Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was already near the Poinsettia area when the call came in. A guy had stopped at a gas station, finished pumping, and his 2014 Fusion just sat there showing a key-not-detected warning on the dash. Fob in hand, nothing changed. He tried holding it closer to the start button like that ever helps. Still nothing.

When I got there, he handed me the fob. I popped it open right on the trunk lid. Two CR2025 cells inside, which is correct for this fob, but one of them had a film of corrosion on the contact side and the other was reading low. Both came out, both went in the trash.

Fresh pair seated, fob snapped back together, and the Fusion woke right up. Door handles responded, start button saw the key, everything back to normal. He had been about twenty minutes from calling a tow.

The part that stuck with me was what he said after: he had already looked up a dealer appointment and they had told him to bring it in, leave it overnight, and they'd diagnose it in the morning. For a pair of CR2025 cells. He saved a good chunk just by calling a mobile tech first.
