2019 Ford Fusion
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2019 Ford Fusion Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy over near The Avenue, right by that stretch of shops on Thompson Boulevard.

He'd been at the beach, lost his only key somewhere in the sand, and his 2019 Fusion was sitting in the lot with no way in and nobody to call. He'd already spent an hour retracing his steps. He figured Monday, tow truck, dealer. I told him I could be there that afternoon.

When I pulled up he was sitting on a bench next to his car just watching it. That look people get when something simple turns into a whole ordeal.

I picked and decoded the door lock, cut a new blade to match, then connected through the OBD port and ran the all-keys-lost sequence. That process wipes any previously registered fobs from the vehicle's memory and enrolls the new key as the primary. There's a timed wait built into the procedure, so you can't rush it. I used that window to cut him a second key on the spot so he'd have a spare.

Both keys started the car. Lock, unlock, everything worked. He drove out of that lot himself, which is the whole point.

The dealer would have meant a tow, a wait until Monday, and a bill that was a significant chunk more than what he paid me. He didn't say much about that part. He just said he appreciated that I actually showed up.
