A guy at the Home Depot in Simi Valley Town Center flagged me down from his 2006 Prius. He was on his lunch break, holding a smart fob with the key ring loop snapped clean off and the case held together by a strip of electrical tape.

I used my diagnostic setup to pair a new MOZB31EG fob, wrote the Texas Instruments ID74 chip data so the immobilizer accepted it as original, and cut a new emergency insert blade on site.
Then the boring part. Walk every door. Test lock, unlock, trunk. Confirm push-button start with foot on the brake. Check the multi-function display for any warning. Nothing. Clean sweep.
He peeled the electrical tape off the old fob, tossed it in his center console, and went back inside to finish his shift. Whole thing took maybe 35 minutes, and the car never left its parking spot.
