I was already running a call in Oxnard on a Friday evening when a second call came in from Victoria Estates. A couple had walked out to their 2020 Prius and the fob was doing nothing. No door unlock, no response from the handles, start button showing a key-not-detected warning. They had a backup fob in the house, same issue. Both dead at the same time, which almost always means one thing.

I pulled the drawer with the CR2032 cells, swapped both fobs right there in the driveway, reseated the contacts, and tested. First fob came right back. Second one took a quick contact cleaning and then it came back too. Ran through both fobs completely: lock, unlock, remaining buttons, touch unlock on both front handles, start confirmation. Everything solid.
They had already been on the Toyota dealer's website looking at appointment availability. The earliest opening was Monday, and the car would have sat in their driveway all weekend. Turned out to be a battery job, done in the driveway, on a Friday night.
That is the part people do not expect. When the van is stocked and you are already in the area, a 10pm call in Victoria Estates gets handled the same as a Tuesday afternoon call. No difference.
