A woman pulled into The Collection in Oxnard, parked near the storefronts, went shopping, came back, and the car would not acknowledge her fob. No door unlock from the handle touch, nothing on the start button. Just a warning on the dash telling her the key was not detected. Fob in her hand, car going nowhere.

The 2022 Prius smart system can get finicky at the low end of battery life, behaving like a total fob failure when the battery still measures something on a basic meter. Swapped in a fresh CR2032, cleaned the contact tabs, snapped it back together.
Door handle touch unlock came back. Start button saw the fob. Every one of the four buttons tested out clean.
She asked if I needed to hook anything up to the car. I told her no, this one was a battery and contact issue, not a programming issue. She said the dealer told her over the phone it was probably the fob itself and quoted her a wait of several days plus a number that made her wince.
She was back inside The Collection finishing her original errand about fifteen minutes after I arrived. Saved a good chunk for what turned out to be the simplest possible fix, done on site, in a parking lot, with no tow and no wait.
