2006 Toyota Tacoma Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out on the highway shoulder near Oak View, a guy called me after his key snapped in the ignition of his 2006 Tacoma. Half the blade was stuck in the cylinder. Half was in his hand. He had already called one other locksmith, who quoted him a full ignition replacement over the phone without even looking at it.

I drove out to him. The goal before anything else is to see what you are working with. A stuck blade fragment in a Toyota ignition cylinder is not automatically a cylinder-swap situation. I used a Lishi tool designed for Toyota's keyway to work around the broken piece and extract it without touching the wafers. Came out clean.

From there I decoded the lock by reading the wafer positions, cut a fresh blade to match, and enrolled the transponder chip through the OBD port. His fob was completely fine since the remote on this generation is its own separate unit. He only needed the metal key with the right chip.

No drilling. No cylinder swap. His original lock still works the same as it did before. The other locksmith's plan would have cost him a good chunk more and left him with a replaced ignition that did not need replacing. Non-destructive is always the first move.
