Out at the yoga studio near Wagon Wheel in Oxnard, a woman had been fighting her 2014 Tacoma ignition for a few weeks. Not dead, not seized. Just stubborn. I decoded it, replaced the worn wafers, and cut a fresh remote head key matched to the repaired cylinder. Then I verified the remote functions at the door. Everything worked.
She asked me what was actually wrong with it. I showed her the old wafers. She looked at them for a second and said she could not believe the dealer was going to replace the whole thing for that.
Neither can I, honestly. But I see it more than you'd think.
