A graphic designer on the Main Street corridor in Santa Paula called me during her lunch break. She had one working key for her 2005 Grand Cherokee and wanted a spare before she ended up with zero.

I cut the blade on my mobile unit, confirmed the bitting against her original, then plugged my programmer into the OBD-II port under the dash.
The SKIM module on the 2005 WK allows up to eight transponder keys. Hers only had one registered. I added the new key, cycled the ignition to confirm the immobilizer accepted it, then tested all four remote buttons from about 40 feet out. Lock, unlock, panic, hatch release. Everything paired clean.
She came out, tried it herself, and just nodded. No drama. The whole thing took about 25 minutes and she never left the property. A fraction of what the dealer wanted, and she kept her lunch hour.
