Near Montecito Village Grocery, a yoga instructor flagged me down about her 2010 Grand Cherokee. The plastic housing on her FOBIK had cracked right along the blade pivot, and the whole thing was barely holding together with a strip of tape. She told me she had already been to the dealer. What they did not mention is that her IYZ-C01C circuit board was fine. The PCF7941 transponder chip was fine. The six buttons all still worked. The only thing broken was the shell.
I met her in her driveway with a matching aftermarket housing and my programming setup. Popped the old board out of the cracked case, seated it in the new shell, verified the battery contacts were snug on the CR2032, and tested every button plus the wireless range from about 30 feet out. Lock, unlock, hatch, remote start, all six functions clean.
Then I decoded her existing blade and cut a fresh one so the backup mechanical entry matched. The whole job took maybe 25 minutes on her driveway.
She watched the entire thing from her front step with a coffee. Said the dealer made it sound like the car needed surgery. It needed a new plastic shell and a blade cut.
