2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know you are not a scam locksmith?

It is a fair question. The pattern with scam operations is a low quote on the phone that climbs once they see the vehicle, or they cut the key blade and then claim they cannot program it, and still charge you for the cut. On a 2025 Grand Cherokee, programming requires going through the vehicle's secured gateway, and some locksmiths either don't have that access or don't disclose upfront that they can't complete the job.

Q: Will the replacement key work exactly like the original?

Yes. Once programmed to your 2025 Grand Cherokee, the replacement fob handles remote lock and unlock, proximity detection, and the push-to-start function. We also verify the emergency blade insert that lives inside the fob, since that is your backup if the fob battery dies. One thing worth knowing: partial failures are real on these. A fob can pass one function and quietly fail another, and you might not notice until you need it.

Q: My 2025 Grand Cherokee shows a key-not-detected warning but the fob battery is new. What is actually going on?

New fob battery is the first move and it rules out the obvious. But on the WL Grand Cherokee, that warning can also appear when the 12V vehicle battery is weak, when there is interference near the antenna zones around the door handles and center console, or when the fob's pairing has been disrupted by a voltage event. If the warning keeps coming back after a fresh CR2450, get the 12V battery load-tested, not just voltage-checked.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online. Can you just program it, or is that a problem?

Bring it in and I can tell you quickly. The concern with aftermarket fobs is compatibility at the module level, not just the shape. If the fob is a genuine unit with the correct factory identifiers for your vehicle, programming it is the same job. If it is a clone or a knock-off that doesn't handshake correctly with the 2025 Grand Cherokee's security system, programming will fail and you will have spent money on a fob that becomes a paperweight.

2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

He called around 9pm from a diner parking lot near Ormond Beach in Oxnard. Security shift, dinner break, 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee sitting there completely dead to him. Push the button, nothing. No chime, no response, no crank. Just a dark dash staring back.

The dealer was closed. A tow would have dropped it in a lot until morning, which didn't work for a guy whose next shift started in under an hour. He found me, I was already running jobs in the area, so I told him to stay put.

When I got there I checked the 12V battery first. It was borderline, not fully dead but low enough to have caused a voltage dip. On the WL Grand Cherokee, a voltage event during a key communication cycle can cause the vehicle's security module to drop a fob from its registered key memory. That is exactly what happened. The fob itself was fine. The module just didn't know it anymore.

I stabilized the battery, connected my programming equipment through the OBD port, and re-enrolled his existing fob. The Jeep recognized it immediately and started on the first press.

He made his shift. The fix wasn't a new key, it was understanding why the old one stopped working. That's the part a parts-counter transaction can't give you.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Are you licensed and insured to work on Jeep vehicles?▼

Yes. EZ Car Keyz is a California BSIS licensed locksmith company, license number LCO 6792, and fully insured. On a 2025 Grand Cherokee, key programming goes through the vehicle's secured communication network, which requires specialized equipment that not every locksmith carries. Some shops turn away late-model Jeep jobs for exactly that reason, or they tell you the dealer is the only option. We have the tools and the training to handle it on site, in Oxnard, without a dealer visit.
