1998 Lincoln Navigator Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call from a guy out near Point Mugu State Park in Oxnard. His 1998 Lincoln Navigator was sitting at the trailhead parking area and he had zero working keys. Lost the only one somewhere on the trail. His wife was waiting with the truck while he borrowed a phone.

I loaded up H72-PT blanks, my FO38 Lishi, and the Autel IM608 and drove out.

First thing, I picked and decoded the driver door lock with the Lishi. Good read, clean wafers. Cut two H72-PT transponder keys right on site using the decoded depths. Then I plugged into the OBD-II port under the dash to talk to the PATS module through the IM608.

Here's the part people don't expect: Ford's PATS 1 system on these has a timed security access procedure. You request the key learn, then you wait. About ten minutes of nothing happening while the module counts down. He kept looking at the dash like something was broken. I told him it's just Ford being Ford. The system has to time out before it'll accept the new transponder ID.

Timer finished, first key registered, cycled ignition, registered the second. Fired right up. He drove his wife home instead of calling a tow truck to haul a two-ton SUV off a gravel lot at the edge of a state park.

Dealer route would have meant a flatbed ride and days of waiting for a fraction of what we handled in under an hour on the spot.
