2013 Lincoln Navigator
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know you're not a scam locksmith?

Scam locksmiths are a real problem, and Lincoln owners sometimes get hit with a luxury surcharge just because of the badge. The pattern is always the same: a low number on the phone, then a bigger number once they're looking at your car, with some excuse about special equipment. EZ Car Keyz has over 100,000 followers across YouTube and TikTok where you can watch us do this exact work on real vehicles.

Q: Will the replacement key work exactly like the original?

It should, and we don't hand it back until we've confirmed it does. On a 2013 Navigator remote head key, that means testing the ignition start, lock, unlock, and the remaining buttons, all before we leave. Owners on forums have reported cheap aftermarket fob shells where the buttons register inconsistently or the key blade fit was loose enough to cause ignition problems. We use quality blanks and test everything on site.

Q: My Navigator shows a key-not-detected warning even with what I think is a good battery. What's actually going on?

A few things can cause this beyond a dead CR2032. The battery contacts inside the fob can corrode or lose tension, so the battery reads as present but isn't making a solid connection. That's worth checking before assuming the fob is dead. Beyond that, if the fob took a hard drop or got wet, the internal board can lose its pairing to the vehicle even with a working battery.

Q: I lost both keys to my 2013 Navigator. Can you still make a key, or does it have to go to the dealer?

All-keys-lost is a standard job. It takes longer than adding a spare, because when there are no working keys present, the process involves a security access procedure with a timed wait built into the system before new keys can be enrolled. Plan for about an hour on site. The old keys get erased in the process, so if a lost fob ever turns up, it won't start the car.

2013 Lincoln Navigator Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

It was a Saturday night out in El Rio, and a couple had just finished dinner when they came out to a Navigator that wouldn't budge. The fob had given up. No lock, no unlock, no response at all. They stood in the parking lot doing what everyone does: clicking the buttons harder, like that helps.

They didn't know about holding the fob against the start button when the battery is dead. Nobody tells you that at the dealership. They figured the car was done for the weekend and started looking up Ubers.

I was already in Oxnard, van stocked, and got there in about fifteen minutes. Opened the fob on the hood, swapped the CR2032, and tested range before I did anything else. Battery alone didn't fix it, the fob needed to be reprogrammed after sitting discharged that long. Ran the pairing sequence with my diagnostic tool, walked every button, confirmed the ignition read the key, and handed it back.

They were back on the road the same night. The dealer conversation never really came up, but they mentioned the service department had quoted them a wait until Monday minimum. That part wrote itself.

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Are you licensed and insured to work on Lincoln vehicles?▼

Yes. EZ Car Keyz is a California BSIS licensed locksmith company (LCO#6792), fully insured, and NASTF Vehicle Security Professional certified. Lincoln key work on this generation requires the right diagnostic equipment to pair a remote head key to the immobilizer, and not every general locksmith carries it. Some will show up and tell you Lincoln requires dealer-only work simply because they don't have the tools.
