A body shop over on Saviers Road in Oxnard called me about a 2016 Navigator that another locksmith had already tried and walked away from. All keys lost situation. The other tech got partway through programming, the vehicle battery sagged mid-handshake, and the BCM locked up in a security fault state. He told the shop the module was bad and left.
When I pulled up, the Navigator was just sitting there with the hood open and a dead jump pack still clamped on. I hooked my own power supply to the battery first and held it at a steady 12.6 volts. Then I connected my IM608 to the OBD port and pulled the BCM fault codes. The security registration had stalled, not corrupted. Big difference.
I cleared the incomplete learn sequence, let the BCM cycle back to a clean state, and started the all-keys-lost procedure from scratch. The M3N-5WY8609 fob picked up on the first attempt. Proximity unlock on every door handle, push button start, liftgate release, all five buttons on the fob tested out.
The shop owner was watching the whole time. He didn't say much, just stood there holding his coffee. When the engine turned over he kind of nodded, like he was confirming something to himself.
Hour and forty from arrival to driving. The alternative was a flatbed ride to the Lincoln dealer, a multi-day wait for parts and scheduling, and a bill that would have been a lot more than mine.
