2020 Lincoln Navigator
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2020 Lincoln Navigator Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Las Posas Estates in Camarillo, I got a call from someone who had already spent two weeks going back and forth with a Lincoln dealer about a Navigator fob that was throwing a key-not-detected warning on the dash intermittently. Not dead, not fully gone, just unreliable in a way that made every grocery run feel like a gamble.

He had watched one of my Lincoln key videos before he called. He said he wanted to see the actual process, not a graphic. When I pulled up to his driveway, the fob was doing its thing, working fine, and then not. Classic intermittent fault, which is honestly harder to chase than a clean no-start.

I opened the fob on the hood of my service van. The CR2450 inside had a small crack along one edge, barely visible, and the positive contact had just enough flex in it that vibration from driving was breaking the circuit. New battery, contact straightened, closed it back up.

Then the part that actually matters: I tested every button, confirmed the push-button start worked three times in a row, walked the perimeter to check passive entry range on all four doors, and checked the emergency blade release while I was at it. The whole job was done in his driveway.

He mentioned what the dealer had quoted him for a full fob replacement and programming. He paid a fraction of that. What he appreciated most was not having to arrange a tow, not having to sit in a service lounge, and knowing exactly what was done and why.
