1995 Subaru Outback
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know you're not a scam locksmith?

It's a fair question and worth asking. Scam locksmith operations are real and they show up especially on jobs where the customer is stuck and needs help fast. The pattern is a low quote on the phone that turns into a much larger number once they're at your car, sometimes with vague explanations about why. EZ Car Keyz has over 100,000 followers across YouTube and TikTok where you can watch us do this kind of work.

Q: Will the replacement key work exactly like my original?

Yes. The replacement is a metal key cut to match your vehicle. On a 1995 Outback there's no programming involved, just an accurate cut. We test it in the door lock and the ignition before we leave. You drive away with a working key, same as the original was when it was new.

Q: I lost all my keys to my 1995 Outback. Can you still make a replacement without having an original?

Yes, and this is one of the most common calls I get on vehicles this age. When there's no original key to copy, there are two ways to get the cut. I can decode the lock directly at the vehicle, reading the wafer positions inside the cylinder to figure out the correct cut, or I can pull the key code through other means depending on what's accessible.

Q: My 1995 Outback key turns hard in the ignition. Should I just get a new key cut?

Maybe, but it depends on where the resistance is coming from. A worn key can cause hard turning, and a fresh accurate cut sometimes helps. But if the cylinder itself is worn or sticky, a new key won't fix that. Before cutting anything, I'll check whether the resistance is in the key cut or in the cylinder. If the cylinder is the issue, that's a different repair. Worth diagnosing before spending money on a cut that doesn't solve the problem.

1995 Subaru Outback Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call out to Lemonwood in Oxnard from a guy who'd locked his keys inside his 1995 Outback in a parking lot. He'd already called a dealership and was told they couldn't help him on-site and that he'd need to tow it in. He was standing next to his car in the afternoon heat, not thrilled.

I decoded the lock on the door, cut him a new key blade on the spot, and had him in the car in under thirty minutes.

The moment that gets me every time on these older vehicles is how relieved people look when something just works. No wait for parts. No tow truck. No multi-day service visit. He drove home the same afternoon.

The dealer route wasn't even a real option for what he needed. A mobile locksmith with a cutter and the right tools was the whole answer.

Subaru Outback Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Are you licensed and insured to work on Subaru vehicles?▼

Yes. EZ Car Keyz holds a California BSIS locksmith company license (LCO#6792) and is fully insured. For a 1995 Outback, the job is cutting a metal key to your vehicle, which is exactly the kind of work a properly licensed automotive locksmith does every day. We show up in a marked vehicle, give you a firm price on the phone, and that price doesn't change at the car.
