Then the part that matters. I stood about 30 feet away and tested lock, unlock, trunk release, and panic. Walked closer, tested again. Had him start the car three times in a row while I watched. He looked surprised I didn't just hand him the remote and leave.
He'd already called a dealer in Thousand Oaks. They wanted him to bring the car in and leave it. I did the whole thing at his car in about fifteen minutes for way less.
