Got a call from a guy down in the Funk Zone in Santa Barbara. He was loading his dog into the car outside a boarding spot, and the key just snapped. Not the remote part. The actual NSN19 blade broke off right at the head, half of it still sitting in the ignition cylinder.
He had one key. That was it.
I pulled the broken blade section out of the cylinder with an extractor, no damage to the wafers. Then I pulled the code from what was left of the original blade and cut a fresh NSN19 on site. His remote head key still had the original 4D62 chip inside, so I cloned it to a new NHVWB1U711 shell with a VVDI Key Tool, tested the transponder handshake with the immobilizer, and confirmed three clean starts.
Then the part that actually matters: I walked every button on the remote. Lock, unlock, trunk. Checked range from across the lot. Everything paired and responding.
He told me he had already looked up the dealer route. They quoted him a wait for the part to ship plus a tow since the car wouldn't start with a broken blade stuck in the cylinder. He was staring at days without his car during a trip he had planned around his dog.
Whole thing took me about 35 minutes at his vehicle. He drove off with two working keys and no tow bill.
