I got a call from a guy out in Nyeland Acres, Oxnard. He had a 1999 Subaru Outback that had been sitting in a driveway for a few months while he sorted out some paperwork.
When he finally got everything squared away and went to move it, the only key he had was bent. Not snapped, just bent enough that it bound up in the ignition cylinder and would not turn smoothly. He was worried he was going to snap it off trying to force it.

He mentioned he had called around first. One shop told him to tow it to them. Another said to just try forcing it gently. Neither of those was the right answer. He paid a fraction of what a tow and shop visit would have cost him, and the car never left his driveway.
