Got a call from a guy near Leadbetter Beach in Santa Barbara. He had a 2019 Outback Limited sitting in an overflow lot after a day trip, and every key was gone. Dropped somewhere between the beach and the parking area. No spare at home either.
He had already called the Subaru dealer. They told him tow it in, wait a few days for the fob to be ordered, and then they would program it. He walked to the lodge area to get signal and found me instead.
I drove out with the HYQ14AHK in stock. Push-to-start all-keys-lost on the fifth-gen Outback is more involved than a basic transponder clone. The immobilizer module needs to be accessed directly, old key data wiped, and the new proximity fob registered from scratch through OBD. I used my ACDP to pull a safety backup of the IMMO data off the 93C86 EEPROM on the keyless module before running the AKL procedure. Once the new fob was registered, I programmed the remote lock, unlock, trunk, and panic buttons, cut the emergency insert blade, and tested everything: proximity detection at each door handle, push-button start, and walk-away lock.
He sat on a parking barrier and watched the whole thing. When the engine turned over he just nodded slowly, like he was confirming it to himself.
