Both fobs were working, lock, unlock, and the other buttons, before the detective called her back to ask a follow-up question.
She drove home that night. The dealer estimate was over twice what she paid me, plus a tow she didn't need and days she didn't have.
The one thing I made sure she understood: the stolen key can still slide into the door lock and turn it. The immobilizer is what stops the car from starting. Those are two different systems. If the physical lock situation bothered her, rekeying was still an option down the road. But she had a working car that night, and that was enough.
