I was already running a call near East Area 2 in Santa Paula on a Friday evening when the next one came in. A couple had been at an outdoor event, came back to their 2002 Land Cruiser, and neither fob was responding.

Doors would not lock or unlock remotely. The car itself started fine, so they knew it was not a total failure, but they had two dead remotes and no idea why both went out at the same time.

Both fobs locked and unlocked cleanly. I walked every button on each one before I called it done. They drove out of the lot that night. The dealer option would have meant leaving the car there all weekend, then dealing with it Monday during business hours, and paying considerably more. When the parts are already in the van and the tools are dialed in for this exact key type, a Friday-night call is no different from a Tuesday morning.
