2011 Toyota Land Cruiser
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2011 Toyota Land Cruiser Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy in Meiners Oaks called on a Tuesday afternoon. He had already been to the dealer, already heard the wait time, already heard the price. He was not angry about it, just done with the process. He had one working fob left for his 2011 Land Cruiser and wanted a backup before that one became a problem.

He met me in his driveway off Creek Road. The original fob was in good shape, battery was recent, everything was responding. Good starting point.

On a Smart Key vehicle like this one, adding a second fob is not a mechanical job. There is no ignition-turn sequence, no button trick. You need diagnostic equipment talking to the vehicle through the OBD port to register the new fob to the immobilizer. I ran the process, enrolled the new fob alongside the original, verified both fobs were reading at the door handles, and confirmed the push-button start was seeing both.

The whole thing wrapped up in his driveway in about 40 minutes. He had been quoted a multi-day turnaround at the dealer because their key tech was backed up. He got it done same-day, at home, for a fraction of what they wanted.

That is usually how these Land Cruiser calls go. The job itself is not dramatic. The difference is just showing up with the right tools and not making someone wait three days for a spare key.
