2013 Ford Taurus Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A construction worker called me from a job site in Hollister Village at about 6:45 in the morning. Shift started at 7. His Taurus fob had died overnight and the push-button start wouldn't respond. His foreman was already on site and he needed to not be the guy who showed up late.

The door was easy enough to handle. Once inside, I connected through the OBD port and ran a read on the key system. The fob itself was still paired, but the battery was so far gone it couldn't complete the handshake. Swapped in a fresh CR2032, confirmed the pairing came back clean, and tested every button plus the start. Total hands-on time was right around 20 minutes. I left him a spare CR2032 for the glovebox so he wouldn't be back in this spot next month.

He clocked in at 7:15. The dealer route would have meant a tow, a wait for a service bay, and most likely most of the day gone. He texted me that night. Short message, but he meant it.
