Got a call from a guy over in Rancho Simi Park in Simi Valley. He bought his 2002 Lexus GS300 used about a year ago and only ever got the one key with it. Somewhere between his morning and the parking lot at his kid's baseball game, the key was gone. Checked every pocket, dug through the grass along the path, nothing.

When I got there, I used my TOY43 Lishi to pick the door lock and decoded each wafer position one by one. Cut a fresh blade on my mobile machine to match. From there I connected through the OBD port and ran the immobilizer reset procedure, which wipes old key registration data from the 89780 ECU and writes in the new 4C transponder code. The HYQ1512V is a 3-button remote head key, so I also paired the remote functions: lock, unlock, and trunk.
Lock decode to engine running, about 50 minutes.
He just sat in the driver's seat for a second after it started, like he was making sure it was real. No tow, no waiting days at the Lexus dealer, no second trip to pick it up. Just his car running in the same parking lot where he lost the key.
