2007 Lexus GX Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a text from a guy in El Rio on a Saturday afternoon. He'd been out near some of the agricultural plots off the 101 corridor, and somewhere between getting out to check on something and getting back to his 2007 GX, the key was gone. Not locked inside, just gone. Gravel, dirt, tall grass nearby. He'd already walked the area twice.
He found me, sent me his pin, and I loaded up for a GX all-keys-lost call before I even left the driveway.
When I pulled up, he was standing by the truck looking like a man doing the math on what a tow to a dealer on a Saturday was going to cost him. I didn't bring up the dealer thing. We just got to work.
The GX needed a full erase of the key memory since there were no working keys to start from. The security system has a timed delay built into that process, so you can't rush it. I connected at the OBD port, started the sequence, and we talked while the timer ran. He asked how many people lose keys in fields. More than you'd think.
Once the countdown cleared, I cut and programmed a new remote head key on site, tested every button, tested the start, walked the door locks. The whole job was done in that dirt pullout under the afternoon sun. He drove home.
The dealer would have meant a tow, a Monday wait at minimum, and a bill that would have made that Saturday afternoon significantly worse.
