2021 Lexus GX
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know you are not a scam locksmith?

It is a fair question because scam locksmiths are genuinely common in this industry. The pattern is always the same: a suspiciously low price on the phone, an unmarked car, a tech who cannot tell you the company name, and a bill that tripled by the time the job is done. EZ Car Keyz gives you a firm price before anyone drives anywhere, and that price does not change at the vehicle. We show up in a marked van.

Q: Will the replacement key work exactly like the original?

Yes. Every function gets tested before I leave. Lock, unlock, the remaining buttons, and both door handle touch sensors. One thing worth knowing: GX owners on forums have described being told they needed all-new fobs when the actual problem was a Smart Key setting that had been switched off in the vehicle menu. That setting is easy to miss and easy to fix. I check the configuration side before I start selling hardware.

Q: I lost both keys to my 2021 GX. Can you still make a replacement, or do I need the dealer?

All-keys-lost on the 2021 GX is a job I handle regularly. It does not require the dealer. What it does require is a bit more time than a simple spare. When there are no working fobs left in the system, the immobilizer needs a full reset through the diagnostic port before new keys can be registered. That reset has a timed sequence built into the process, so the job takes longer than add-a-key.

Q: The door handle touch unlock stopped working on my driver's side. Is the fob failing?

Probably not the fob. If the passenger handle still responds and the start button recognizes the key, the fob itself is reading fine. Isolated to one door, this usually points to the handle sensor on that door or its wiring rather than anything wrong with the key. Wipe down the handle area and retest. If it stays dead only on the driver's side, that is a door-side issue. Worth knowing before anyone tries to sell you a new smart key.

2021 Lexus GX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was parked near the Presidio in Santa Barbara when she found me through the website. She'd already been to the dealer for a quote and walked back out.

She had one working fob and wanted a spare before a road trip. Smart move. She'd also texted me the VIN before I arrived, which is the single thing that speeds this job up more than anything else. With the VIN I had the correct blank prepped in the van before I even pulled into her street.

The original fob was in good shape. CR2032 was still reading strong. With a working key in hand, the job goes add-a-key instead of all-keys-lost, and that matters on a Lexus because all-keys-lost requires a full system reset with a timed countdown baked into the process. Having even one working fob skips all of that.

I ran the programming through the diagnostic port, paired the new fob, and walked every button and both door handles before I called it done. She had a tested spare in her hand inside twenty minutes, parked right where she was. She saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer had quoted her for the same key.

The road trip happened. I got a text a week later that just said it worked fine the whole time.
