2009 Lexus GX Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
He was in the premium lot at the airport, bags at his feet, and nothing was happening. Pressed the fob. No click, no lights. Tried again. Still nothing. He'd been out of town a week and the car had just been sitting there in the heat.
He figured it was the battery. He didn't have a CR1616 on him, and the airport convenience shop wasn't going to have one either. He called the dealer. Earliest they could see him was Thursday. He called a tow company next. He found EZ Car Keyz right after that and called me instead.
I was at the lot in about 35 minutes. Before I opened anything, I asked him the basics. Any warning lights before he left? Had the remote been acting up at all? He said the lock range had been a little short the last couple weeks but he hadn't thought much of it. That told me most of what I needed to know.
I swapped in a fresh CR1616, seated the contacts properly, and tested the remote. Range came back. Then I tested the ignition. Started clean. I connected my tool anyway just to verify the key was still registered and no fault was sitting in the system. It was fine. Everything had been fine. The battery was just done.
He drove home that afternoon. The dealer wait and the tow never happened. I got a handshake and he got back on the road.
