Got a call from a guy over in the Bubbling Springs neighborhood in Port Hueneme. His 2017 Lexus GX had a key blade that snapped clean in half inside the ignition cylinder. The bottom half was jammed deep in the lock, the top half sitting in his palm.

The 2017 GX uses the Smart Key system with the HYQ14ACX remote, so his fob was totally fine. It was just the mechanical blade that needed replacing.
He stood there watching while I cut. When the new blade slid into the cylinder and turned clean on the first try, he just nodded. That was it. No fanfare. He had been picturing a tow to the Lexus dealer, a loaner car, and days without his truck.
