2015 Lexus GX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was already working the J Street Corridor area on a Saturday evening when the call came in. A couple had walked out from somewhere near the theater strip and their 2015 GX was just sitting there, ignoring the fob. Not dead. Lights came on. Engine wouldn't start. The fob felt unresponsive and they assumed the worst.
They told me they'd already tried locking and unlocking a few times. Nothing. They were getting ready to arrange a ride home and deal with it Monday through the dealer.
I got there in about twelve minutes. The first thing I did was pull the fob apart right on the hood. CR1632 was original, no doubt. The kind of battery that's been in there since the car was new and has been slowly giving up for the last six months without anyone noticing. The contacts were fine. The fob shell was fine. It just needed a fresh cell seated correctly.
Popped in a new CR1632 from the van, closed it up, and walked every function: touch unlock on both front handles, lock button, the start button response from outside the vehicle, and all four buttons in sequence. Everything came back clean on the first pass.
The thing that stuck with me was how resigned they'd already gotten. They were mentally scheduled for a Monday dealer appointment, a loaner, a three-day wait, and a bill that would have made them wince. A fresh battery on a Saturday night got them home in the same car, same evening. That's the whole job sometimes.
