A couple near Bubbling Springs Park in Port Hueneme came out of a Saturday evening movie and their 2015 GX 460 just sat there. Fob click, nothing. Dashboard dark. Door handles not responding to touch.
They figured they were stranded until Monday. Then one of them searched "Lexus locksmith" and my number came up.
I was about 12 minutes out. When I got there, the husband was already holding the emergency insert blade out, but he hadn't found the slot behind the driver door handle cover. So we started there. Popped the door open manually, got them inside, and I pulled the fob apart on the hood.
The CR1632 was original from what I could tell. Completely flat. I dropped a fresh one in, correct polarity, and reseated the battery clip that had a slight bow to it. Fob lit up on the first press. But push-to-start still showed "Key not detected" on the multi-info display.
That meant the smart ECU had lost registration after sitting with a dead battery and repeated button mashing. I connected through the OBD-II port using my diagnostic tool, re-registered the HYQ14ACX to the immobilizer ECU (board 89990-60362 on these GX models), and the push-to-start caught on the first hold.
Walked every door handle for touch unlock and touch lock. Tested all four buttons. Hatch release, twice. They drove home Saturday night instead of waiting for a Lexus dealer to open Monday morning, which would have cost them a good chunk more and a lost weekend.
