1997 Nissan Pathfinder Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Corriganville, near the old film ranch trails on the east side of Simi Valley, a guy had been using the same Pathfinder key since he bought the truck used in the early 2000s. That key was a worn-down mess.
He'd been wiggling it in the door lock for a year, and one afternoon it just stopped working entirely. Snapped the tip right off in the cylinder. The blade half went in, the handle half stayed in his hand.
He called around and someone told him he needed to tow it to a dealer because the broken piece was stuck inside. He wasn't buying that.
I got there with my extraction tools and pulled the broken section out of the cylinder without damaging the lock. Then I decoded the cylinder on the spot, reading each wafer position to get the exact cut depth sequence. Once I had that, I cut a fresh key blade to match and tested it in the door, the ignition, and the tailgate lock. Turned smooth every time.
No tow. No dealer appointment. No waiting on a parts order for an old Nissan nobody's rushing to stock. The whole job was done in the Corriganville lot for a fraction of what he thought he was facing.
He mentioned the dealer had told him over the phone it might be a "full cylinder replacement job." It wasn't. Just needed the broken piece out and a proper key made from the decoded lock.
