2018 Nissan Pathfinder
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2018 Nissan Pathfinder Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a woman in Mountain Meadows, over near the apartment breezeways off the main stretch. She was a nursing student, running on a packed schedule, and her only Pathfinder key had cracked along the seam. The fob was still technically working, but the halves were separating and the buttons were exposed. She figured it was just going to keep getting worse, so she called Nissan first.

They quoted her a number that made her pause, and then they told her to tow the car in. She didn't have a tow covered, she didn't have a spare key, and she didn't have a free afternoon to sit in a dealership waiting room.

I drove out to her in Moorpark. She met me in the breezeway. While she was talking through what happened, I was already looking at the fob. The shell was cracked but the board looked okay, so we went through the options. She decided to go with a full replacement since the old one was too far gone to trust long-term.

I decoded the door lock, cut the new key blade to match, and ran the programming from my equipment right there in the breezeway. The whole thing took under 40 minutes. She left for her shift with a working key and a spare in her bag for the first time since she bought the car.

The dealer option would have added a tow, a wait, and a bill that was a significant chunk heavier. She saved that money and didn't miss a single hour of her day.
