2001 Nissan Pathfinder Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
She was at a valet lot near Hollywood Beach in Oxnard, celebrating a birthday, when her purse got grabbed off the table. Car keys, wallet, phone, gone. She borrowed someone's phone, called the police, then her roommate, then me.
Her 2001 Nissan Pathfinder was sitting in that lot with no keys at all. Her roommate called the dealer and got a quote that included parts, programming, and a recommended tow since they did not want to do the work in a parking lot. Multi-day wait minimum. The number they gave her was enough to make her sit down.
I got there that night. All-keys-lost after a theft is a different job than adding a spare. The first thing that has to happen is clearing the key memory entirely, so the stolen key can never start that car again. Then you program fresh from zero.
I hooked up my programmer to the OBD port, wiped the immobilizer memory, and enrolled two new keys. Took longer than a standard add-a-key job because of the full reset, but it was done before her roommate arrived. I cut both keys on site, tested the ignition on each one, confirmed the engine started and held without stalling.
She drove home that night. The stolen key is dead to the car. The dealer route would have meant a tow, a multi-day wait, and a bill she did not want to think about. We handled it in the parking lot, same night.
