Down near Stearns Wharf, the parking along the waterfront fills up fast on weekends. A guy had parked his 2015 Impreza that morning, walked the pier, grabbed lunch, came back to nothing. His only fob was gone. Not in his bag, not on the ground nearby. Gone.

I backed up the immobilizer data before touching anything, then ran the all-keys-lost procedure through the OBD port. New fob, cut the emergency insert blade to match the car, tested every button, tested the start, tested touch unlock on both front handles.
He was back in the car within the hour, parked twenty feet from the water, watching the pier like nothing had happened. The dealer visit he almost had to take would have meant a tow truck, a rental, and coming back the next day. He saved a good chunk and did not lose the rest of his afternoon.
