2021 Subaru Impreza Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Concha Loma, a teacher had just picked up a 2021 Subaru Impreza from an auction lot. Clean car, reasonable price, and exactly one key. She called the Subaru dealer to price out a spare and came back to me with that look people get when a number surprises them.
She'd found EZ Car Keyz online and wanted to know if the dealer quote was real. I told her it was, and that I could do the same job for less - she'd get the price when she called, and it held.
I met her at the lot before she drove it home to Carpinteria. I brought the right fob blank for her vehicle, cut the blade by decoding her door lock right there on the hood, and used my programming equipment to register the new key to her car through the OBD port. The factory fob ID on her original key matched what I was expecting for this year and model, so there were no surprises.
Both keys tested out clean. Lock, unlock, start, touch unlock on the door handles. She watched the whole thing, maybe fifteen minutes of actual work once I was set up.
The part she didn't think about until I mentioned it: having a second registered key means if she ever loses one, it's an add-a-key job next time instead of an all-keys-lost reset. That difference matters, both in time and in what it costs.
She drove home with two working keys. The dealer quote was already a memory.
