A night janitor called me from a laundromat parking lot near the UCSB campus in Santa Barbara around 10:30 at night. His only key to his 2016 Impreza was gone. The whole thing took about 40 minutes including the security reset countdown. He stood there quiet the whole time, then just said "that's it?" when the push-button start fired the engine.
He drove home that night. The dealer would have needed a tow, a wait until morning, and a much bigger bill. The VIN is the single most useful piece of information you can give me when you call.
