2022 Subaru Impreza
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2022 Subaru Impreza Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

There's a stretch of Downtown Carpinteria where the side streets are tight and parking is right on the curb. A physical therapist who works visiting patients had her 2022 Impreza parked out front of her place when she finally dealt with the key she'd been ignoring for months.

The shell was cracked through. The loop at the top had snapped clean off, and the rubber on two of the four buttons had worn so thin you could barely feel them. The fob still worked, but she was babying it, afraid to press too hard and lose the whole thing.

The dealer had already told her what it would take. Full replacement key, their price, their timeline. She mentioned the number and I didn't argue with it. I just asked if the fob was still unlocking the car and starting it without complaint. She said yes, every time.

That told me what I needed to know.

I met her at the curb with a replacement shell that matched her factory button layout and the right tools to transfer the electronics. The board inside was fine. The battery contacts were clean. The transponder was doing its job. All of it moved into the new housing in minutes. I seated the CR2032, confirmed all four buttons had range, and checked that the vehicle was reading the key correctly.

She kept the working internals and got a solid shell around them, for a fraction of what the dealer quoted for a whole new key. The car never got towed anywhere.
