2004 Toyota Sienna
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2004 Toyota Sienna Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

He came back from a week-long trip, walked out to the cell phone lot, and his 2004 Toyota Sienna would not start. Key went in, turned, nothing. Not even a crank. He had one key, had always had one key, and right now that one key was not doing its job.

He called the dealer. They could fit him in Thursday. It was Tuesday afternoon.

He found EZ Car Keyz and asked if I could come out to him in North Ventura. I was there inside 40 minutes.

The key blade was fine. The cut was reading correctly in the cylinder. The issue was on the transponder side. I connected to the OBD port, ran the immobilizer read, and confirmed the key's chip had dropped out of registration, probably from years of being the only key on a heavy ring taking ignition shock over and over. The car had no record of it anymore.

I re-enrolled the chip to the vehicle on site. One key, same key, back in the system. He turned it over on the first try and just sat there a second before saying anything.

Then I told him to get a spare made before he drove home. He did. Two keys leaving the lot instead of one, and he never had to load his luggage into a tow truck or sit in a dealer waiting room for two days.
