2007 Toyota Sienna Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call around 5:30 in the morning from a guy down near Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard. He worked on one of the farm crews and his shift started at 6. Said he turned the key in his 2007 Sienna and the engine cranked but would not fire. The security light on the dash was blinking steady, which on these second-gen Siennas means the immobilizer is not reading the transponder.
I was at the supply store lot in about 25 minutes. Pulled his key out and checked it. The plastic bow had a hairline crack running right through where the 4D-67 chip sits. The chip had shifted just enough that the transponder coil around the ignition cylinder could not get a clean read.
I cut a fresh TOY43 blank, seated a new 4D-67 chip, and registered it through the OBD-II port using the existing working key as the master. Then I confirmed the immobilizer accepted it by cycling the ignition three times, watching for the security light to go solid and then off. Whole thing took maybe 20 minutes on the hood of his van.
He drove off to the field on time. Kept his old cracked key in the glovebox as a backup door key since the mechanical cut still worked fine. Sometimes the fix is just catching a tiny crack before it turns into a tow truck and a missed day.
